Steps to Calories Calculator
Turn your step count into an approximate walking distance, walking time, and calorie estimate. Set a goal, log your steps, and build a walking habit that fits your life.

Enter your measurements and step count. We estimate walking on level ground at your selected pace.
If your watch or map measured the walking distance, enter it here. Otherwise we estimate distance from your height using an average step length. The duration assumes all steps were walked at the selected pace.
7,500 is just an editable starting example — not a universal health requirement.
Your walking estimate
“Active” subtracts approximate energy you would have used at rest; “total” includes that resting energy. Neither is a measured personal calorie count.
Your step-goal progress
More than a step counter
Walking can fit into ordinary days, and your progress matters more than hitting a magic number.
Your walking log
Save your step count by date. Entries stay in this browser when local storage is available.
How it works
Steps are converted into an estimated distance using an average step length based on height. If you provide a measured distance, we use that instead.
Walking time is approximated from distance and selected speed. We then apply a published MET value to estimate energy for a continuous walk at that speed.
Actual daily steps often include different paces and terrain, so this is a planning estimate, not a wearable measurement.

Can you lose weight by walking more?
Walking increases energy expenditure and supports cardiovascular and metabolic health. It can be part of a sustainable weight-management routine, but a particular step count doesn’t guarantee weight loss.
Be careful with calculators that turn today’s walking calories into a promised number of grams of body fat lost. Your body uses several energy sources during activity, and long-term weight change depends on many changing factors. We intentionally do not make those predictions.
