Create your daily schedule

Choose a window you’re comfortable with. Shorter eating windows are not automatically healthier or more effective.

Choose a fasting / eating rhythm
Anchor your plan around your routine

All times use your own local clock. A window may cross midnight; the schedule will label the following day.

A more restrictive window isn’t necessarily better. With an 18–20 hour fast, it may be harder to eat enough food, protein, and nutrients. A shorter fast or no fasting at all may be a better fit.

Your daily window

This is a recurring clock-based schedule, not a countdown you must obey. Adjust it as needed.

Clock positions use local time: midnight is at the top, noon at the bottom.

The suggested meal point is optional, not a rule. You don’t need to eat at every marker.

A schedule should work with your life, not take it over.

    It’s a timing tool, not a diet

Time-restricted eating may help some people manage when they eat. It doesn’t guarantee a calorie deficit or make food quality and nutrition irrelevant.

Eating a balanced diet and enough protein matters whether you follow a fasting window or not.

Check before trying fasting. This planner is intended for adults. Fasting may be unsuitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with an eating-disorder history, or for people with certain medical conditions. If you have diabetes — especially if you take glucose-lowering medication — or use medicines requiring food, talk to your healthcare team before changing meal timing. Never adjust medication on your own.

What if the plan feels wrong?

Choose a shorter window, eat earlier, or skip fasting altogether. If you feel dizzy, unwell, or preoccupied with restriction, stop and seek appropriate advice.

    What research actually says

Intermittent fasting can support weight management for some adults, but trial results are mixed and longer-term comparisons are still being studied. A longer daily fast isn’t automatically superior to a shorter one.

Some research supports time-restricted eating as one option among several. Its usefulness depends on the person, the total diet, and whether the routine is sustainable.

How to use an intermittent fasting calculator

Choose your preferred fasting duration, then enter when you want to start or finish eating. The calculator works out the other end of the eating window, when the fast begins, and when your next eating window opens. For example, a 16:8 schedule with a first meal at noon has an eating window from noon to 8 PM and a fasting window from 8 PM until noon the following day.

There’s no need to force 16:8 if 12:12 or 14:10 fits your life better. Even if you use a fasting routine, the quality and adequacy of your meals still matter. For more context, read our beginner’s intermittent fasting guide and how to build healthy eating habits.

Educational schedule planner for adults. Times are based on the browser’s local clock and assume a normal repeating 24-hour day. Daylight-saving transitions may shift elapsed hours on the changeover day. This tool cannot determine whether fasting is medically appropriate for you. Personal schedules are saved only to your browser when you choose to save them.
