GLP-1 Eligibility Checker — Do You Qualify for Weight Loss Medication?
GLP-1 Eligibility Checker
Explore the common U.S. adult BMI-based starting criteria for prescription weight-management medications, flag questions to discuss with a clinician, and understand your next steps.
← Explore all free tools · Educational screening only — not medical approval
Start with your measurements
This tool covers common U.S. adult weight-management indications, not every possible medical use of these medicines.
Under 18? This adult-only screener is not appropriate for you. Some medicines have separate pediatric approvals and require age-specific clinical assessment.
Any weight-related health conditions?
A clinician-diagnosed weight-related condition may matter for the commonly used BMI 27–29.9 pathway. Select what you know; these answers do not establish a diagnosis.
Important safety questions
These do not replace a clinician’s medication review. Formal contraindications and other precautions are not the same thing.
Select anything that applies to you. If none apply, select “None of these”; if you don’t know, choose “I’m not sure.”

Understanding GLP-1 weight-management treatment
Some prescription medications act on GLP-1 pathways to affect appetite and glucose regulation. Tirzepatide also acts on GIP pathways. FDA-approved products have different indications, dosage forms, age limits and safety information. For example, Wegovy and Zepbound have weight-management indications, while Ozempic and Mounjaro are primarily indicated for type 2 diabetes; they should not be treated as interchangeable.
For some adult weight-management indications, BMI thresholds commonly begin at 30, or at 27 when an appropriate weight-related health problem is present. Meeting a threshold does not establish that a medicine is safe or appropriate. Other approved indications and age groups use different criteria.
The safety questions are deliberately not a diagnosis. MTC/MEN2 and serious hypersensitivity are labeled contraindications for specific drugs; other conditions may require warnings, precautions, or alternative treatment planning. Avoid offers that claim compounded medicines are FDA-approved.
