How to Increase Metabolism After 40

The Priority Order

  1. Strength training 3x per week — most impactful intervention
  2. Increase protein to 1–1.2g per pound of bodyweight
  3. Increase daily steps to 8,000–10,000
  4. Don’t eat too little — protect metabolic rate with moderate deficit
